Cancer Care That Begins With Early Detection

At Manipal Hospital Kanakapura Road, our Women’s Cancer Care programme is built around one deeply held belief: your care should feel compassionate, coordinated, and reassuring from the very first visit. We understand that women feel more at ease when consulting a female cancer specialist, alongside a team that recognises both the medical and emotional dimensions of cancer care.

Preserving your dignity, comfort, and confidence is at the heart of every interaction with us. Being cared for by women specialists ensures that every consultation, examination, and treatment journey is approached with empathy, sensitivity, and respect, helping you feel heard, understood, and supported at every step.

At our centre, that sense of comfort of being treated by women specialists is an integral part of your treatment experience, from the earliest stages of screening and diagnosis to advanced surgical treatment and recovery. Every aspect of your care is brought together under one roof, with a steadfast commitment to the highest standards of clinical excellence. We place particular emphasis on preventive oncology, including screening and mental health support for patients and caregivers. When cancer is detected early, treatment can often be more effective, less invasive, and far better aligned with your personal goals and values.

How Women’s Cancer Care Makes a Difference

We believe that a woman-centric approach will put the patient at ease, preserve their dignity, and make them more comfortable so they can share their symptoms without any inhibition.

  • This woman-centric approach also makes clinical examination less embarrassing to the patient and makes them more confident.

  • Even the tests, including ultrasound scan, mammograms, and breast biopsy if needed, will be performed by female doctors so that the women's dignity is preserved.

  • Early detection can improve cancer survival outcomes by up to 90% in many cases.

  • Minimally invasive and robotic approaches significantly reduce complications, pain, and recovery time.

  • Advanced technologies - including robotic surgery, oncoplasty, and HIPEC - enable precise and effective treatment tailored to your individual needs.

  • Our care extends well beyond treatment to support your recovery, emotional well-being, and long-term quality of life.

  • Fertility-preserving treatments allow eligible women to maintain their reproductive potential without compromising cancer care outcomes.

  • Integrated, multidisciplinary cancer care improves the quality of cancer treatment and thereby long-term outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Oncosurgeon the first point of contact?

Our surgeons lead the treatment planning process from the very outset. The first step in any cancer diagnosis is a biopsy, which is usually done by the Onco surgeon or by an interventional radiologist if the tumour is inaccessible.  Hence, it is imperative that the patient is seen by the Oncosurgeon first.

This integrated approach ensures that diagnosis, staging, surgical planning, and fertility considerations are thoughtfully evaluated at the outset and together — and not in isolation — providing you with clarity and continuity from day one.

Do you offer female cancer specialists?

Yes. Many women feel more comfortable and at ease when consulting a female cancer specialist and a female-led expert team. We deeply value the importance of maintaining one’s dignity, trust, open communication, and genuine empathy in cancer care — and we are committed to providing an environment where every woman feels respected and heard.

Which cancers are the primary focus of your centre?

Our primary areas of expertise are breast cancer and gynaecological cancers, which include cervical, uterine, and ovarian cancers.

Do you use robotic surgery for gynaecological cancers?

Yes. Robotic surgery is commonly employed in gynaecological oncology, where clinically appropriate, as it supports minimally invasive treatment with greater precision and facilitates faster recovery in suitable patients.
